Outline

OutLine is an all-ages rainbow mental health organisation providing support to the rainbow community, their friends, whānau, and those questioning.

OutLine provides a nationwide, free and confidential support line and online chat service at 0800 OUTLINE and outline.org.nz/chat between 6pm-9pm every evening, for people who want to speak to a trained volunteer from the rainbow community. They also provide specialist rainbow counselling and an Auckland based trans and non-binary peer support service. OutLine advocates for better rainbow mental health outcomes and also has a range of resources available on their website: outline.org.nz

Individual services:

  • Support line – OutLine has a rainbow support line at 0800 OUTLINE (688 5463) between 6pm-9pm every evening for those who want to speak to a trained member of the rainbow community. This service is free, confidential and all-ages. This service is available to the rainbow community, friends, whānau and those questioning.
  • Online chat service – OutLine has an online instant-messaging chat service at outline.org.nz/chat between 6pm-9pm for those who want to speak to a trained member of the rainbow community. This service is free, confidential and all-ages. This service is available to the rainbow community, friends, whānau and those questioning.
  • Specialist counselling – OutLine’s specialist rainbow-affirming counselling service is available to all ages on a sliding scale payment system. The counselling team assist rainbow-identified people, their families, and anyone questioning their own sexual orientation or gender identity, or who are intersex or have a variation of sex characteristics (VSC). This service is available face-to-face in Auckland and nationwide via video counselling. A referral form for this service can be found at outline.org.nz/counselling
  • Trans & non-binary peer support service – OutLine’s trans & non-binary peer support service is free for people aged 28 years and older who live in the wider Auckland region (Auckland, Waitematā and Counties Manukau District Health Board areas). This service supports people to explore gender identity through accessing gender-affirming healthcare, providing information and resources, and creating connection and community with other gender-diverse people. OutLine’s trans & non-binary peer support service can help with things like: referrals for gender-affirming health care, attending peer- support groups, finding relevant and relatable resources, advocating at work, finding clothes, changing your name and gender marker on identity documents, etc. A referral form can be found at outline.org.nz/transgender-peer-support-service/
