Mpox (monkeypox) Vaccine is now available at Taranaki sexual health.
Due to the lack of being able to advertise we have the vaccine until recently, our vaccination rates have been low.
Aotearoa New Zealand has access to vaccines that can help to prevent the transmission of Mpox, and reduces the severity of symptoms for those who do acquire it. The JYNNEOS vaccine has received provisional approval by Medsafe, meaning it meets the standards of efficacy, quality and safety for people at risk of mpox.
Vaccinations are an important public health measure, as they can protect people against serious illness and assist the broader community in preventing the spread of illness.
Why should I get the mpox vaccine?
Mpox can be a very painful and uncomfortable condition, that can leave permanent scars
Preventing Mpox can protect against spread in our community and especially protect your sexual partners

The vaccine is free and available to:
Gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM)

How do I get a vaccine?
Call us 0508739432 option 1 and book an appointment with Nurse Fletch. I work Tuesday and Thursdays at sexual health.
I am very aware our opening hours do not suit most working people. We do have our Monday evening clinic, which is often busy and fully booked.
If you are wanting a booking for a Monday evening for an Mpox vaccine please call 0508739432 option 1 and advise our receptionist in advance, so that our receptionist will let me know to be here.
If you are wanting a vaccine but are unable to make a Monday evening 6pm-8pm, Tuesday or Thursday 9am-noon, please call us 0508739432 option 1 as we may be able to arrange a time/venue that suits.
I am also aware some people feel stigma/shame or embarrassment in attending our clinic, please call us 0508739432 option 1 as I may have an alternative discreet venue I can use.
