Key workstreams of advocacy, education, and support have always been and remain our key pillars. We also acknowledge our commitments to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, to people living with and affected by HIV and to our very environment.

With the same passion and commitment as those who came before us, Burnett Foundation Aotearoa continues to prevent HIV transmission, combat stigma and maximise the wellbeing of those most affected by HIV.

We have centres in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington and Ōtautahi Christchurch. We provide HIV and STI testing, counselling, group support and other services at these centres as well as remotely for people anywhere in New Zealand.

Carefirst has four medical centres located in Westown, Moturoa, Merrilands and Bell Block.

We provide comprehensive healthcare services designed to meet the diverse needs of our community. Gender Care Whanganui, the city's pioneering clinic for gender affirming healthcare, is officially launching with support from Pride Whanganui and funding from Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora.

Gender Care Whanganui is set to provide a comprehensive range of services tailored to support the unique needs of those seeking gender affirming care. The clinic's offerings include consultations with a Gender Affirming GP, peer support, clinical psychology services, support groups, and access to gender affirming products. The clinic will initially operate on a monthly basis, with a review of its frequency scheduled after six months.

This new clinic is made possible through a $100,000 funding grant over three years, awarded by Health NZ following a successful application by Gender Care Whanganui. This is part of an initiative designed to improve access to gender affirming primary care for transgender and non-binary people in Aotearoa and support improved health outcomes.

The establishment of Gender Care Whanganui responds to a critical need identified by the Rainbow Healthcare Reference Group, a coalition of 24 medical professionals from Manawatū and Whanganui, community feedback obtained by Pride Whanganui and research conducted by Health and Research Collaborative Whanganui. The results underscored significant barriers faced by transgender and gender diverse individuals in accessing adequate healthcare, with elevated risks of mental health issues and distress. This clinic aims to address these disparities by providing a dedicated space for gender affirming care.

Patients will benefit from a supportive environment focused on individual needs and goals. Services provided include consultations with a Gender Affirming GP, access to peer support workers, clinical psychology, and gender affirming products. Importantly, there is no cost to patients for appointments. The clinic will not replace patients’ existing GPs for other medical needs and instead will complement ongoing care.

To make an appointment, individuals complete a self-referral form available on the Pride Whanganui website. Health professionals can follow the community health pathway for advice on how to refer or complete the self-referral form on their patient’s behalf. First appointments will focus on understanding patients' needs and discussing their gender affirming healthcare goals. Hormone therapy and other treatments will be considered following a comprehensive evaluation.

OutLine is an all-ages rainbow mental health organisation providing support to the rainbow community, their friends, whānau, and those questioning.

OutLine provides a nationwide, free and confidential support line and online chat service at 0800 OUTLINE and outline.org.nz/chat between 6pm-9pm every evening, for people who want to speak to a trained volunteer from the rainbow community. They also provide specialist rainbow counselling and an Auckland based trans and non-binary peer support service. OutLine advocates for better rainbow mental health outcomes and also has a range of resources available on their website: outline.org.nz

• Support line – OutLine has a rainbow support line at 0800 OUTLINE (688 5463) between 6pm-9pm every evening for those who want to speak to a trained member of the rainbow community. This service is free, confidential and all-ages. This service is available to the rainbow community, friends, whānau and those questioning.
• Online chat service – OutLine has an online instant-messaging chat service at outline.org.nz/chat between 6pm-9pm for those who want to speak to a trained member of the rainbow community. This service is free, confidential and all-ages. This service is available to the rainbow community, friends, whānau and those questioning.
• Specialist counselling – OutLine’s specialist rainbow-affirming counselling service is available to all ages on a sliding scale payment system. The counselling team assist rainbow-identified people, their families, and anyone questioning their own sexual orientation or gender identity, or who are intersex or have a variation of sex characteristics (VSC). This service is available face-to-face in Auckland and nationwide via video counselling. A referral form for this service can be found at outline.org.nz/counselling
• Trans & non-binary peer support service – OutLine’s trans & non-binary peer support service is free for people aged 28 years and older who live in the wider Auckland region (Auckland, Waitematā and Counties Manukau District Health Board areas). This service supports people to explore gender identity through accessing gender-affirming healthcare, providing information and resources, and creating connection and community with other gender-diverse people. OutLine’s trans & non-binary peer support service can help with things like: referrals for gender-affirming health care, attending peer- support groups, finding relevant and relatable resources, advocating at work, finding clothes, changing your name and gender marker on identity documents, etc. A referral form can be found at outline.org.nz/transgender-peer-support-service/

The Survivor Experiences Service is for people who were abused in state, faith-based or other forms of care.

We aim to provide a safe, supportive, and confidential place for the Rainbow community to share their experiences of abuse in care and/or access their care records.

If people have been abused in care, they can share their experiences to continue their healing journey and be acknowledged and validated. This includes, but is not limited to, transphobic, biphobic, homophobic or interphobic abuse. They can also get support to request, receive and understand their care records.

The Survivor Experiences Service aims to alleviate the ongoing impacts of abuse in care for the Rainbow community by letting people be themselves in private sessions and in their engagements with us. We are receptive and value input from the rainbow community to understand how to make the service as accessible as possible. We welcome discussion to better navigate this space for LGBTQIA+, MVPFAFF+, Takatāpui people.
